Guiyang, China – The air was electric as Guizhou Medical University (GMU) hosted its annual Sports Gala. While every college brought their A-game, a special spotlight fell on the School of Overseas Education, with international students participating passionately across multiple disciplines.

The gala kicked off with the gymnastics team event. The Overseas Education contingent delivered a synchronized, high-energy performance that blended flexibility with flawless timing, earning warm applause from the crowd.
In a serene contrast to the roaring stadium, students from the School of Overseas Education, dressed in traditional silk uniforms, moved in slow, deliberate unison. Their Tai Chi performance symbolized balance, breath, and the beautiful integration of international students into Chinese culture.

The most electrifying moment came during the hurdles race. One of our overseas students performed brilliantly, attacking each barrier with relentless determination. Though he narrowly missed the top spot, his courageous finish earned a standing ovation.
We also performed well in other games, including the 100m, 400m, 800m, relay races (4×100m and 4×400m), shot put, long jump, and high jump. Every athlete contributed to a proud collective showing.

“Participating in these sports—from gymnastics to shot put—is our way of saying we are not just visitors here,” said a student from the SOE . “We are Guizhou Medical University. We sweat, we strain, and we celebrate together.”
The Gala concluded with the university’s president praising all participants for their sportsmanship, with a special mention of the overseas students’ enthusiasm and fighting spirit.
